My 1930's Flower Garden Quilt Block - Tutorial

You have probably seen this quilt block appear every now and then on my Instagram account. This is my first project using my 1930's collection, which I have been collecting now for a few years, waiting for the right project. Deciding on the fabrics and the shades has been part of the fun. A few people have commented on the block so here are the instructions on how to make one.... The block is a simple 9 patch block and comes together quite easily. Here is what you will need to make one block. Each of the blocks are 15 inches finished. (15 1/2 inches raw) Using 2 yellow shades of fabrics cut (2) 3 x 3 inch squares and then cut diagonally Arrange as in the photo below and sew together, matching seams and pressing. Being careful not to stretch the fabric as all the edges are on the bias. The next section is made up of 3 different shades of pink. (or whatever color you are using) a light, medium and dark shade. Sew Together Bag....

Have you seen this bag popping up on instagram feeds or facebook pages. Well I have been seeing them everywhere and I just had to have one of my own. My mind was made up when I went to my first Sunday Sewalongs with the GWSMQG. (Greater Western Sydney Modern Quilt Guild) everyone there had on sitting proudly in front of them filled with sewing goodies. That was it I was making one...... You can find the pattern here by Sew Demented As soon as I downloaded the pattern I knew what fabric I wanted to use. Little Red Riding Hood - Riley Blake. This has been sitting on my fabric shelf looking pretty for too long. It was time to cut into some of it. I was a little worried about the zippers, and getting the rights sides all matching and on the right side of the zipper, and it all worked out so easy, just follow the instructions, and maybe read them a few times, I did..... 1930's Farmer's Wife and a QAL

Are you starting the latest Farmer's Wife Quilt? I know I haven't finished my original Farmer's Wife, but I am hoping that following the QAL will keep me on track to get this one finished. I am following the QAL held by Gnomeangel with links to many other blogger guests who post tips on how they have constructed the block. So there is lots of support and lots pictures and ideas to look at. So week 1 saw the creation of the first 3 blocks. This week was special with 3 blocks but from next week we will be completing 2 blocks a week. So sounds pretty manageable if my days and weeks remain as planned.
