Hooked on Adriano

On Tuesday we went for a little drive and decided to have lunch at the fish markets. Thought we would have a coffee and some morning tea first. Great idea get the kids out of the car for a bit. As we drove through Balmain we see a sign.

Oh wow there is an Adriano Zumbo shop here. I know what I want for morning tea.

The kids loved the little shop. We each chose a flavour we wanted. LalaDad bought a chocolate and Hazelnut pastry. We got some coffee and off we went to find a park to sit and enjoy our found.

The James, Sarah and Lauren picked blue milkshake, Andrew chose chocolate. Well it was there when I turned on the camera but by the time I focused it was gone. He said he just couldn't wait.

As soon as I took the picture.........

They where all gone......... Everyone was silent as they savoured their little macaroon.

I had the salted popcorn (the white one). It was heaven. We all wanted to go back and pick some more.

Then laladad got out his pastry. I don't have to say anymore just look at the photo.

Is your mouth watering. Head on down to Darling Street Balmain. It was so worth the drive down from the mountains. And the kids thought it was fantastic as he is famous. I'm hooked I now think of that little shop everyday.

Off to the fish markets we then went. If Lauren could choose dinner each night it would be a fish. She just loved looking in all the shops. The others just complained about the smell. It wasn't that bad....

Look at Lauren in the background looking in the window.

We got some fish for home and some fish and chips for lunch. And then the hard part finding a table....

Lauren enjoying her fish

What a great day out.... What are you doing with the kids these holidays?

Flying Kites....

What a beautiful day it was yesterday out in the Blue Mountains. We decided to go out for the day, so off we packed some lunch and went out to Oberon.

It was beautiful; blue skies and not a cloud in the sky.

It was a little breezy so out came the kites. It was so much fun.

Grandad then needed to do some work on the cows. The kids love helping grandad drench and castrate the bull calves. I don't know why, they just do.

This one has come over to say hello. Not knowing what is going to happen to him next. I always feel that little bit of pain for them.

Normally Andrew would be climbing all over the yards with the others but his broken arm stopped him from being a cowboy this time.

I did get to sit in the sun for a little while and do some more on the baby blanket. All the squares done now just the border to go......

Loving the holidays....

Love It, Pin It, Win It....

Wow Moda Bake Shop are running a competition called Love it Pin it Win It. I love all the recipes from this site but there are a few that I just adore.

Here is the one I have pinned onto my Pinterest. And will hopefully make one day very soon....

Photo from Moda Back Shop - Happy Weekender Recipe

If you would also like to make this gorgeous quilt click on the photo and it will take you straight there.

Love It - I love the combination of colours and all the white. It looks fresh, bright and happy. How happy I would be under this quilt anytime of year reading a good book. I have three charm packs of this Vintage Modern fabric I bought one day just to have in my collection. Lucky I did....

Pin It - Already done this here

Win It - Now all I have to do is cross my fingers and hope I win.

I have to admit I spend many hours going through the recipes on Moda Bake Shop blog and enjoy looking at all the fabric combinations and get many of my inspirations from here. I think it is just so cute how the tutorials are just like a recipe for cooking with ingredients and instructions. And lots of step by step photos.

Caution -
There is only one thing I do have to caution when you go and check out Moda Bake Shop. That all the kids are asleep and you have a few hours to yourself. It is addictive.

Have fun.....

How many projects is too many.....

I know what you are all going to say "how do you have so many going at the same time" I just love having lots of things on the go. When I sit to watch some TV I can't just sit there, I have to be doing something. And I love to do different things each night. So that means lots of projects to do in front of the TV. Projects I can do at my sewing machine and projects I can take with me. One thing I always make sure is that I finish every project I start.

So you want to know what my latest project is? Someone I know is having a baby and I love babies...... and I also love working with baby wool it is soooo soft....

I had lots of fun choosing the colours. It only took me about 2 hours and finally decided on these four.

I am making a little baby granny square blanket.

The squares are a combination of each of the colours with all the last rows being white.

The squares are then crochet together in white giving a big white boarder. When I have finished making all the squares and putting them together I will crochet a scalloped border just to finish it off.

In the meantime though I still have many more squares to crochet. Before it is entirely finished.
I still haven't finished Sarah's quilt in case you are wondering.

So how many projects do have going at any one time?.......

It is coming together

Even though it has been a little slow coming together, it is getter closer. I am really loving the border. It is not from the Moda - Hello Luscious range but the colours match perfectly.

I was a little short of the hello luscious fabric and I was finding it hard to find some more without having to buy online. I was too impatient and didn't want to wait. So I got some Moda - Fandango, which has the same colour scheme.

Sarah really loves it and it is sooo her colours at the moment. So hopefully not too many plans this weekend and I can start the quilting.

A Quiet Day at last

Finally after some really busy days and nights I have finally found some time to do more on this quilt. Which I was supposed to have finished for Sarah back in July.

My new Janome
This past 2 weeks saw us heading off to the Opera House to see James with his Violin at the Opera House. We had dinner at City Extra and then off to see the performance. What fantastic talent from some very young kids.

Waiting to start performing while everyone finds their seats and settle down.
Lauren had her team and individual Physie competition. Her team WZ Physie Blue Mountains won first place. The girls where so good, they where a stand out. Lauren also made it to the Grand Finals for her individual performance.

Sarah is on next week. So will be helping her perfect some of her movements and help her be a little more confident.

Anyway back to my quilting. It took me hours of re-arranging and making sure that no two same patterns where near each other. Every time I swapped two squares I would have to move another two. It was some puzzle. I had to give up with some just as long as they where not touching each other I had to let it go.

It looks fantastic laying on the floor.

In this photo I am half way through sewing the rows together.

Well the top is all finished now and will be quilting it later today. It is so nice to finally get one of the many projects I have going closer to being completed. And I am sure Sarah is too. She wants to use it before it gets too hot.
